Website & General Project Terms

These public terms explain the general rules behind this website, the Founding 20 promotion, and Show Me Web Design projects. A signed proposal or project agreement may add to or replace these terms for a specific project.

Important: This page is a plain-language business draft and is not a substitute for a project-specific agreement or legal advice. The signed proposal and invoice terms control when they conflict with this page.

Use of this website

You may view and share links to this website for lawful purposes. You may not attempt to disrupt the site, access non-public systems, submit harmful code, impersonate another person, scrape protected content at unreasonable volume, or reuse Show Me Web Design branding or portfolio material as your own.

Public examples and descriptions are informational. They are not a promise that every project will receive the same scope, design, price, timing, technology, or result.

The limited free concept

When offered, the initial concept is a limited preview created to evaluate project direction. Unless confirmed otherwise in writing, it does not include:

  • A complete website or complete design system.
  • Editable source files, production-ready code, or ownership rights.
  • Unlimited concepts or revision rounds.
  • Use, publication, resale, or delivery to another developer.

Show Me Web Design may decline or stop concept work if the project is not a fit, required information is not supplied, communication becomes inactive, or the request appears intended to collect unpaid design work.

Founding 20 promotion

Promotional spots are limited, subject to availability, and confirmed only in writing. Eligibility normally requires a clearly limited scope, timely client participation, and permission to feature the completed project among Show Me Web Design's public business examples.

The $0, $20, $100, and $250 Founding amounts are one-time website build prices for the approved scope. Founding offers do not include the first year of hosting or managed care. Those services are priced separately if selected. The earlier fixed-price offers are limited to the simple public-page scope assigned to that spot. Later 50%-off Founding slots discount the approved website build price and may include a focused customer or administrative system after discovery and manual review. Very large systems, complex ecommerce, substantial migrations, or unusually broad workflows may be divided into phases or quoted outside the promotion.

Every project scope may receive 5% off by keeping the stated Show Me Web Design credit link visible for the period written into the quote. A submitted referral code in the SMWD-ABC123 format must be verified before it may provide 10% off and may create a $50 account credit for the referrer after the referral becomes a paid project. These savings may be combined with each other and with current launch pricing, including an available 50%-off Founding slot, after their conditions and the final scope are confirmed in writing. When a discounted one-time build is eligible for a Managed Launch Plan, the deposit and monthly build portion are calculated from that discounted build price; recurring managed care and third-party charges are not percentage-discounted unless the written quote expressly says otherwise. Discounts cannot reduce a project below $0. Referral credits are usable for hosting or new work, are subject to verification, and are not redeemable for cash.

When separately selected, managed hosting covers the approved site, one standard domain registration or renewal while hosted, and the care allowance stated in the agreement. Material increases in traffic or storage, premium or extra domains, domain changes, third-party subscriptions or usage fees, premium services, and new functionality are not automatically included. Business email accounts are not provided by Show Me Web Design.

Scope, client responsibilities, and changes

Paid production begins after the client approves a written scope and satisfies the stated payment and content requirements. The client is responsible for supplying accurate business information, authorized copy and media, decisions, access, and consolidated feedback by agreed dates.

Revisions refine the approved direction within the included rounds. New pages, features, content entry, integrations, major layout changes, or direction resets are change requests. Show Me Web Design will provide a price or rate before out-of-scope work begins.

Client delays may move the project to the next available production window. Long inactive periods may require a new schedule and, if substantial re-planning is necessary, a restart fee stated before work resumes.

Payments and cancellation

Unless the written project terms say otherwise, projects below $500 are normally paid in full after prototype and scope approval and before the complete build. Projects from $500 through $999 normally use 50% to begin and 50% before launch, transfer, or final delivery. Projects of $1,000 or more normally use 25% to begin, 50% when the primary build is approved, and 25% before launch, transfer, or final delivery. Unusually complex or manually reviewed projects use the phases stated in the written quote.

A project with an approved one-time build price over $100 may request a Managed Launch Plan. Approved build prices from $100.01 through $499.99 use a six-month payoff schedule with 25% down. Approved build prices of $500 or more can use up to a 12-month payoff schedule with 25% down. The remaining build balance is divided across the applicable monthly term, and the quoted managed-care amount is added each month while that balance remains outstanding. Build prices of $100 or less remain due in full. Complex or manually reviewed work may still request pay over time, but the deposit and term are set in the written quote rather than promised by the calculator. A Managed Launch Plan is not accepted automatically and does not begin until the complete payment dates, recurring care amount, complete plan total, early-payoff process, cancellation terms, missed-payment handling, and ownership conditions are approved in writing. Rounding may cause the final installment to differ by a few cents.

Payments already earned for completed work, reserved time, approved milestones, licenses, and non-refundable third-party costs are not refundable. If a project ends early, the client is responsible for work completed and committed costs through the cancellation date. No final license or ownership transfer occurs until the applicable balance is paid.

Ownership and licenses

After full payment, the client owns the final approved content the client supplied and the custom project code and design deliverables created specifically for that project, to the extent Show Me Web Design has the right to transfer them.

Show Me Web Design retains ownership of pre-existing materials, reusable components, general-purpose code, methods, know-how, development tools, and anything identified as licensed rather than sold. The client receives the license reasonably needed to operate those items as part of the completed site.

Stock media, fonts, plugins, open-source code, software platforms, and other third-party materials remain governed by their original licenses. The client is responsible for continued fees or account terms assigned to the client.

After outstanding balances are paid, the client may request a transfer to a compatible provider. Reasonable migration, configuration, documentation, or training labor may be quoted or billed, but Show Me Web Design does not charge an artificial fee merely to release eligible client-owned deliverables.

Hosting, maintenance, and support

Managed hosting and care are optional when the project uses its normal paid-in-full or milestone schedule. They are required while a Managed Launch Plan build balance remains outstanding because Show Me Web Design is still carrying part of the build price and operating the site during repayment. After that balance is satisfied, the client may continue managed care or request the normal compatible-provider handoff described below. The written agreement controls the timing, final payment, and handoff process.

A straightforward move into Show Me Web Design hosting starts at a $75 one-time transfer and launch-setup price when the client supplies complete, usable site code or a working repository, necessary assets, build instructions, and the rights and access needed to operate it. That starting scope includes a compatibility check, deployment, standard DNS connection, and launch retesting. It does not promise that proprietary hosted-platform code, databases, server functions, licensed components, missing dependencies, authentication, payments, or outside services can be transferred unchanged. Those items require review and may receive an additional written estimate.

If usable code is not available, a faithful rebuild of the approved current public site starts at $300 for one page, $400 for two to three pages, and $550 for four to five pages, followed by $100 for each additional public page. This path reuses the approved existing content and visual direction for improved hosting; it does not include a new creative direction, major content restructuring, inaccessible proprietary functions, or rights to copy material the client does not own. A new design is priced as a redesign, and unusual functionality is reviewed separately. If a client selects rebuild because ownership is uncertain and later provides complete usable code, the written quote may be reduced before production begins.

Hosting and care services are separate from project ownership. Every Show Me Web Design hosting option includes one standard, non-premium domain registration or renewal while the hosting service remains active, routine maintenance, and an agreed allowance for reasonable small administrative updates to the existing site. Examples include swapping supplied text or photos, correcting contact information, links, or business hours, checking normal form delivery, and applying necessary platform upkeep. The domain remains associated with the client and does not become Show Me Web Design property merely because its registration is included with hosting.

Current calculator amounts begin with a $10 monthly managed-care starting point for a simple site. An admin dashboard, managed inventory, customer-account system, payment connection, or other custom tool begins with a $20 managed-system care starting point. A supported booking connection generally adds $5 monthly, customer accounts add $10 monthly, and a payment connection adds $5 monthly before any provider or unusual-usage costs. Connecting a supported client-owned booking service generally adds $150 to the one-time build estimate. The provider subscription, transaction charges, and ongoing account administration remain separate. Custom scheduling, carts, subscriptions, unusual account systems, sensitive data, high traffic or storage, and outside platforms require review. The final recurring amount, update allowance, turnaround expectations, and response targets are those stated in the written quote or hosting agreement.

A self-managed public-site setup and handoff starts at $50 for hosting-provider setup, DNS, transfer, retesting, and documentation. Booking, databases, admin controls, authentication, payments, and custom systems add transfer work because connected services must be configured and tested in client-owned accounts. Provider compatibility and the complete handoff amount are confirmed in the written quote.

Premium or aftermarket domains, additional domains, changing the primary domain after setup, recovering an existing registration, and substantial transfer or DNS work may require a separate one-time charge. Payment processors, Shopify or other commerce platforms, booking providers, plugins, storage, usage charges, and similar outside services keep their own fees. When an outside booking provider is connected, the client is responsible for opening and maintaining the provider account, keeping its billing current, managing appointments, staff, policies, and provider settings, and complying with the provider’s terms. Show Me Web Design may assist with initial website connection and presentation but does not provide continuing account administration, payment management, or provider support unless the written scope expressly includes it. Show Me Web Design does not sell or host business email accounts.

A defect means delivered work does not materially perform as the approved scope describes. New pages or sections, redesigned layouts, new forms, integrations, user roles, large or repeated content entry, and meaningful new functionality are separate work. A very small adjustment to an existing feature may be included when Show Me Web Design confirms that it fits the applicable care allowance. The written agreement defines any warranty period and included correction process.

Emergency, after-hours, security, restoration, and third-party troubleshooting are included only when the care plan says so. Show Me Web Design may rely on third-party infrastructure and cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability. If service ends, reasonable cooperation will be provided for an orderly handoff after balances are paid.

Portfolio and promotion

Unless the project agreement says otherwise, Show Me Web Design may identify the client, describe the project, link to the public site, and display public screenshots in a portfolio, proposal, social post, or business promotion. Confidential information, private dashboards, credentials, unpublished business data, and protected customer information will not be intentionally published.

A client with a legitimate confidentiality requirement should raise it before work begins so alternative terms can be agreed in writing.

Client content and legal compliance

The client represents that it has the right to use materials it supplies and that its business claims, policies, offers, accessibility obligations, regulated content, and collection of customer data comply with applicable requirements. Show Me Web Design can help implement supplied language but does not provide legal, tax, medical, financial, or regulatory advice.

Disclaimers and limits

Websites and services are provided according to the written scope. Search ranking, traffic, sales, leads, accessibility certification, regulatory compliance, uninterrupted service, and compatibility with every future browser or third-party change are not guaranteed unless explicitly stated in a signed agreement.

To the fullest extent allowed by law, neither party is liable to the other for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from a project. Any project-specific liability limit should be stated in the signed agreement. Nothing here excludes obligations that cannot legally be limited.

Changes and contact

These public terms may be updated for future website use and future projects. Changes do not rewrite a signed project agreement unless both parties agree. Questions can be sent to [email protected].
